Five boys from 2nd Ahoghill BB took part in the Ballymena & District Battalion parade which was hosted by 1st Rasharkin.
It was our first battalion parade since Connor in 2018, back when two of our boys were still wearing the red jumpers of the Anchors.
The parade formed on the Church Road as you enter Rasharkin, and was accompanied by Rasharkin Pipe Band and Vow Accordion Band. We marched along Church Road and Main Street, turning left onto Moneyleck Road and into Rasharkin Presbyterian for the church service.
Rev. James Porter led the service, which concluded with some words from Rasharkin’s Captain Mark Watson. He thanked those in attendance, and spoke of how the parade and service also marked the 80th anniversary of 1st Rasharkin BB, and remembered their former Captain Fred Kyle who passed away in July 2025 after a lifetime of service to the BB.
On the return leg of the parade the Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, Jackson Minford, took the salute. The parade ended back on the Church Road with the national anthem, and the colours marched off.
Many thanks to the boys who attended, and to those who lined the streets to watch. Your involvement and support is always appreciated.
