Ballymena Battalion Parade 2014

News |

2nd Ahoghill Company Section joined the rest of the Ballymena battalion for our annual parade, which was hosted this year by First Ahoghill Presbyterian church.

This year’s parade was a welcome change from most, as we didn’t have too far to travel. After meeting with the boys in our own carpark we made the short walk through the village to meet up with the rest of the battalion, in the carpark opposite First Ahoghill’s old church building.

The parade set off around 3:00pm, and made its way onto the Galgorm Road via the Straid Road. We marched down the hill and into First Ahoghill’s new building for the church service.

The service was led by Rev. Eddie Kirk, and included the presentation of the battalion scripture exam awards. Our own company member, John Lyttle, finished 3rd in his age group and received gift vouchers for the Faith Mission bookshop.

After the service, the parade formed up outside the church and set off on the return leg. The parade came to a halt back on the Straid Road, where the colours were marched off and another year’s proceedings came to an end.

Many thanks to the boys who turned up and took part, and to the family and friends who showed their support.
