It was a fun filled evening in Brookside Presbyterian Church hall as the boys of 2nd Ahoghill BB entertained the crowds at their annual display.
Rev. William Moody welcomed those gathered, and the Company marched into the hall. We sang the BB Anthem “Will Your Anchor Hold”, and committed the evening in prayer ahead of our first item.
Drill Down
As normal, the display began with a drill down by the Company and Seniors. Captain William Young tested the boys’ marching skills with a series of commands. Any mistakes resulted in the boy being dismissed, until only one remained to claim the Drill Cup at the Award Distribution later in the evening.
The Big Rescue
Next were the Anchors, with a Noah’s Ark themed item which began with an obstacle course race. The boys weaved, jumped and ducked their way to the end of the hall, where they threw stuffed animals into Noah’s Ark before racing back to their team. Next they tackled the obstacle course again, this time piecing together a giant jigsaw puzzle rainbow. The item concluded with the boys singing Mr Noah Built an Ark.
BBiathlon
The Juniors competed in an exciting Winter Olympics themed item, based on the biathlon event. The boys emerged in their warm winter coats, with the blue team versus yellow. It was the best of three races, as the boys donned makeshift skis to slid their way around a circular course, before dropping down to aim their NERF guns at a series of targets. With the scores totted up, the yellow team were victorious and claimed the gold medals.
The Mile Run
The Company and Seniors entertained with a comedy sketch based on the mile run they carry out several times throughout the year. A group of runners had to overcome a cast of colourful characters as they jogged laps of the hall. A short video followed based on Hebrews 12, highlighting how we can run the race of life with endurance if we look to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of Christian faith.
Following the display items Rev. Moody commended the boys on their efrorts and gave a short Bible message, before helping with the award distribution.
