45th Annual Display

News |

Guest speaker Stanley Kyle watched as 2nd Ahoghill Boys' Brigade company held its 45th annual display in Brookside Presbyterian Church Hall.

The night’s programme began with the Fall In at 7:30pm, as boys from all three sections of the company formed squads in the main hall. Brookside minister, Rev. William Moody welcomed those in attendance and opened in prayer, after which we sang our opening hymn “Amazing Grace”.

With London hosting the Olympics later in the year, the Company Section had decided their first item of the night would be an olympic themed P.E. routine. The boys were split into pairs representing a different nationality, and competed in a series of events including hurdles, boxing and basketball. After the boys had completed their routine, members of the audience were invited onto the floor to compete against each other.

A short interlude allowed the offering to be collected, and Rev. Moody gave a few remarks on the night so far.

The Company Section’s second item was a take on the TV quiz show Egg Heads. Two teams of boys competed against each other, answering questions on a range of subjects including sports, science, general knowledge and Bible knowledge.

With all display items over, the three sections of the company formed squads in the main hall for a short address by this year’s guest speaker, Stanley Kyle.

After congratulating the boys for another entertaining display, Stanley took some time to share about his work with Arab World Ministries and the Belfast City Mission. He remained on stage to assist with the award distribution, during which boys from all three sections were rewarded for their efforts during the previous year.

After the awards had been distributed, Rev. Moody gave a few closing thoughts and invited the boys, their family and friends to stay for refreshments in the minor hall. The display concluded with the national anthem and benediction.
