2nd Ahoghill Company Section topped their group after a tense opening round in the 2018/19 national Masterteam competition.
A total of twenty-three companies from around Ireland had entered the first round, with four group stages taking place simultaneously.
2nd Ahoghill were in Group 4 which was hosted by 4th Ballymoney, and was to include 58th Belfast, 1st Ballyclare A, 11th Bangor and 1st Ahorey. However, only Ballymoney and Bangor were able to attend.
The quiz was overseen by Stanley Alexander, with his wife Heather reading the questions.

The boys started well, leading the group after the second round of questions. A commanding performance in the middle rounds, including two perfect scores, strengthened their place at the top of the table. The boys struggled in the final three rounds, but the lead they had developed allowed them to cling on and claim first position with a score of 70 points.
This meant 2nd Ahoghill would automatically progress to the next round of the competition, with a place in the Irish Final up for grabs.
The boys were rewarded for their efforts with the customary visit to a chip shop on the way home.
