An evening on Corker Island

News |

2nd Ahoghill Company Section returned to the waters at Newferry, as they canoed upstream to spend a relaxing evening on Corker Island.

The boys and leaders met at Newferry carpark, where we loaded up the canoes and set off towards the mouth of Lough Beg. As ever, the number of boys meant we had to perform shuttle runs; with both canoes making two trips to the island.

Once on the island the boys spent the evening cooking on the barbecue and chatting, with some of the older boys taking the opportunity to fish at the edge of the island.

With the evening drawing to an end, we began our staggered return as we shuttled the boys back to Newferry to be collected by their parents.

  • The canoes make their way to the island, on the first shuttle run of the night.

  • The boys enjoy some food around the barbecue.

  • Meanwhile Josh casts off at the water's edge.

  • William takes a close up of a donkey along the river bank.

Another evening well spent on the water.
