Four boys from 2nd Ahoghill Company Section added to their badge work voluntary hours as they tidied up the church garage on Saturday.
With the boys available at different times of the day, we had provided the option of two time slots – one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Two boys were available for the morning slot, and tackled the long overdue spring cleaning inside the garage. The boys set about hoovering a few months worth of dust and dirt out of the carpets laid on the floor, while Tommy organised the collection of wood scraps we had accumulated during the construction of the canoes.
Three boys were available for the afternoon slot, as we switched our focus to the exterior of the garage which had become over run with weeds. After moving the various objects stored behind the garage, the boys were able to get to work on cleaning up the area. They brushed up the dirt and debris from the slabs, pulled out the weeds and pruned back the plants which had overgrown the neighbouring wall. All in all it was a good days work, with the garage looking as good as ever.
