A team from 2nd Ahoghill Company Section competed in the inaugural Ahoghill It's A Knockout, which took place on the playing fields of Ahoghill Community Centre.
The event had been organised by AIM, a joint venture by First Ahoghill, Trinity and Brookside presbyterian churches; members of which had spent the previous five days carrying out practical work and kids clubs in the village.
The games began around 7:30pm, and included a mixture of inflatable assault courses, team building games and water based games. The most demanding of which was the tractor tyre flipping, our team managing a respectable 73 flips in six minutes.
After completing the games, the teams were invited into the Community Centre to listen to Phil Howe from Scripture Union give a short Bible message focusing on Jeremiah 9:23-24.
This is what the Lord says:
Let not the wise boast of their wisdom
or the strong boast of their strength
or the rich boast of their riches,
but let the one who boasts boast about this:
that they have the understanding to know me,
that I am the Lord
Phil began by asking “What’s the point?”, a question many people ask regarding their own lives. Many people today seek personal wisdom, strength or riches in order to justify their existence. But Phil explained how the Bible clearly tells us that our aim in life should be to know the Lord.
The evening drew to a close as the top three team were announced, and although our team missed out on a medal it was night filled with fun for boys and leaders alike.
