Number 3, Cup of Tea

News |

Three boys from 2nd Ahoghill Company Section assisted with catering during a fundraising bingo night at Riverside School, Antrim.

The school caters for pupils with severe learning difficulties and had organised the event to raise funds for a new playground, during which the boys would serve refreshments at the interval.

On arrival we were welcomed by Building Supervisor Colin McClelland, himself a former member and officer of the Boys’ Brigade, before he explained the format of the night ahead and give a quick tour of the school while the first rounds of bingo were being called.

At the interval the boys made up the orders of tea and coffee required, and served each table with a tray of sandwiches and traybakes; before clearing the tables ready for the bingo to recommence. With the second half of bingo underway, the boys final task was to help tidy up the kitchen area and dispose of any rubbish.

Many thanks to Colin, and the rest of the staff for their warm welcome and hospitality throughout the night.
