2nd Ahoghill finished second in their group, in the first round of this year's Masterteam competition.
The team met at the church hall before making the 56 mile journey to Mountjoy Presbyterian Church, outside Omagh; where we were welcomed by 1st Mountjoy’s captain, Paul Colhoun.
A total of twenty two companies entered the first round of the competition, which was split into four groups taking place simultaneously across Northern Ireland. Our group contained 1st Claremont, 1st Cookstown, our hosts 1st Mountjoy and ourselves, with 1st Ahorey unable to attend.
The quiz was overseen by quizmaster Raymond Dowdalls and scorekeeper Nigel Booth, both from 1st Fintona. A summary of the rounds can be found below-

After 10 rounds, 1st Ardstraw had gained a significant lead, topping the group with 81 points. 2nd Ahoghill found their form after a shaky start to finish second, with a total of 69 points.
The eight highest scoring teams from all four groups progress, meaning our second place finish leaves us in with a chance of advancing to the the next round of the competition.
