2nd Ahoghill Company Section travelled to 1st Limavady for a closely contested opening round in this year's national Masterteam competition.
After meeting at Brookside we journeyed through the foggy conditions to First Limavady Presbyterian Church, where we received a warm welcome from our hosts.
A total of 23 Companies had entered across Northern Ireland this year, split into four groups which would compete simultaneously. Our group was contained 1st Ardstraw, 2nd Comber, 4th Newtownabbey and 7th Portadown.
After an opening prayer and a quick run down of the rules the quiz got underway.

Despite their lack of confidence before the quiz, the 2nd Ahoghill boys put in a performance they can be proud of. After a shaky start, they strung together a series of high scoring rounds to claim joint second with 2nd Comber on 74.5 points.
Congratulations to 4th Newtownabbey who topped the group with 78.5 points, and progress to the Irish Finals automatically alongside the winners of the other three groups. We wait to see if we are one of the four highest scoring runners-up who will also progress.
A big thank you to all connected with 1st Limavady for their hospitality throughout the night, and a special mention to their young quiz team who were competing for the first time. They may be disappointed but will grow and gain experience in the years to come.
