Derek Livingstone from Ambassadors Football took tonight's P.E., as he put the boys through their paces with a series of coaching drills.
Ambassadors Football are an international missionary organisation who aim to “communicate the good news of Jesus to all people” through football. Their work includes football camps, clinics, prison ministries, school ministries, men’s and women’s teams and international tours.
Derek began by organising the boys into four teams for the first of the night’s drills. This involved the boys competing against each other to see who could complete the drill in the fastest time.
With the boys warmed up, they spread out around the hall to begin some drills that focused on developing individual ability and ball skills. The first of which was simply throwing the ball into the air and catching it, but moved on to include the added difficulty of clapping as many times as possible before the ball came down again.
After this they moved on to ball control drills which tested the boys’ “keep up” skills. They began simply, using their knee to keep the ball up, before moving on to use their feet. The last ball control drill required the boys to use their heads, to see how many headers they could complete in a row.
The boys then split into groups of four, to complete a set of drills that focused on movement and intelligence. This involved
The final drill of the night required the boys to get back into their original teams. Each group positioned themselves behind a set of cones in one of the fours corners of the hall. The aim of the game was for members of each team to compete against each other and attempt to score into one of the other teams goals, while also defending their own goals.
With the coaching drills complete, Derek finished the night by sharing a short message from the Bible with the boys.
