Our History - Memories

Fondly remember the football with Thomas Bell.
Football tournaments in Junior Section with Kenny [McDowell], big Gareth Gault! The one and only time Martian came to BB. All the leaders were great and even are still today to talk to.
Stanley Gordon asked me to help with the BB at Brookside sometime in 1968. The BB had been going about a year then.
I remember going to the camp at Tollymore Forest Park, Newcastle the following year. The memories of the activities, the food, the fun, the sleep or 'lack of it' still remain vividly on my mind.
Whenever I see some of the boys who were in BB at that time, who have now grown into men and who have become 'Dads' themselves, I just hope and pray that I have had an influence on them for good and for God.
The football, volleyball and games night which involved table tennis, snooker and darts competitions. We had a great group of lads and the leaders were super!
Taking a heart attack when Jim Nelson attempted his latest trick on the horse. Narrowly avoiding decapitation.
So many great memories at Brookside BB, which are some of the best times I've had. The camps with Colin [Hayburn] and the other leaders to Wales, Castlerock, Ayr and Morecambe. 5-a-side and 11-a-side football tournaments, volleyball competitions, BB sports competitions on Monday nights in Brookside church hall, showing off at the BB display doing somersaults and flying angels over the horse and having the privilege of meeting Tom Bell and Sammy Young. I am so thankful for all that BB has done for me.
Some of the best memories I had were from the BB days! From torturing Big Geoff, the banter with Steven Young and showing a few of the leaders how to play football, I loved every minute of it!
Best memory would have had to have been the one and only night that "Martian" came!
I have tons of fantastic memories and thankful for the time the leaders gave up each week to make BB possible!
Will never forget the drill on BB nights, there were some number of Right Right Wheels carried out!
My fondest memory is probably playing the piano downstairs all night every night. Was amazing.
