The boys and leaders enjoyed a night of high octane action as they competed for the fastest lap time at Raceview Karting.
We were pleasantly surprised to see two past members of 2nd Ahoghill BB when we arrived, Matthew who works at Raceview and James who happened to be visiting with friends.
After our impromptu reunion, we got sized up for our racing overalls and helmets and watched a short video explaining the track rules and how to operate the karts safely. With the admin cleared it was time to race!
We had booked the Speed Trial Bronze package which gave each driver three 5 minute sessions on the track. We split into three smaller groups that would rotate in and out of the karts until we had all completed our 15 minutes. First out were the six youngest boys, followed by the six oldest, and then the five leaders. Matthew even joined the leaders during their final session.
The three groups proved to be evenly matched, with only a few seconds separating the drivers. Despite a few shunts and bumps, all the boys (and leaders) enjoyed the night.
