2nd Ahoghill Company Section enjoyed a fun filled day of watersports as they returned to Dunseverick for the third year in a row.
Our trip to Dunseverick Harbour has become a highlight of our summer calendar, following our two previous visits. However, our camping arrangements were a little different this year as we were unable to stay at Dunseverick itself.
Instead, we set up camp about halfway between Ahoghill and Dunseverick, just outside Loughguile. The land had been provided by the father of one of our former members. The rest of Friday evening was spent chatting and eating around the barbecue, before getting some rest ahead of another busy day at the coast.
We packed up camp on Saturday morning and drove to Dunseverick harbour, where we ate the leftover sausages and burgers from the night before.
Early afternoon was spent fishing, with some of the boys casting off from the rocks and others fishing from an anchored canoe. Meanwhile, some of the leaders kayaked and snorkelled in the shallower waters.
This was the first year we were unable to catch any fish worth cooking, however, one of the leaders did find an impressive crab while snorkelling.
Before leaving the harbour, we finished with some coasteering as the boys braved the jumps of the nearby rock pools.
As always we marked the end of another successful camp by stopping for chips in Bushmills on our way home.
Many thanks to Wesley Loughridge for the use of his land and his warm welcome when we arrived on Friday night.
