Six boys from 2nd Ahoghill BB Company competed in this year's Ballymena Battalion cross country championships, which took place at Ballymena Academy.
Anchor Boys
The day’s events got under way with the Anchor Boy’s race, with one boy representing 2nd Ahoghill. After a tough race through the mud Thomas McCartney narrowly missed out on a place in the top ten, finishing in 12th place.
Junior Section
The next event was the Junior Section race, again with one boy from 2nd Ahoghill competing. After a lengthier race than the Anchor Boy’s, Stephen Millar also finished just outside the top ten with another 12th place finish.
Company Section
The Company Section events began with the Junior’s race, with Harry Marcus and William McCartney competing for 2nd Ahoghill. William produced another fine performance, improving on his result from last year’s championships, as he finished in 6th place. Harry impressed as he made his debut, narrowly missing out on the top three to finish in 4th place.
The final event was the Senior’s race, with John Lyttle and Adam Millar representing the company. Unfortunately John was unable to complete the race, pulling out with cramp midway through the final lap. Adam faired much better, finishing in 2nd place after leading for the majority of the race.
Well done to all the boys who competed, and thank you to the officers from the battalion who organised the event.
